Two Campuses, One Neighborhood

Pittsburgh native Fred Rogers, known around the world as Mr. Rogers, invited generations to ask, “Won’t you be my neighbor?” It was that spirit of neighborly collaboration that inspired Carnegie Mellon and Pitt to co-host this conference — a partnership rooted in the city's Oakland neighborhood, where over 37,000 students shape the future in the city Mr. Rogers called home.

At their closest points, Carnegie Mellon and Pitt are only three-tenths of a mile apart (less than half a kilometer), but each offer distinct yet complementary campus experiences. Carnegie Mellon is an intimate community with greenscapes connecting academic facilities with unique architecture like Hamerschlag Hall. The University of Pittsburgh is an open urban campus anchored by the Cathedral of Learning, an iconic 42-story Gothic skyscraper and the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere.

Carnegie Mellon University, consistently ranked among the world’s most renowned educational institutions, is a private, global research university and home to 14,500+ students from 100+ countries. With 3,000+ major/minor combinations, students have the freedom to study across disciplines and create an academic framework that reflects their unique interests.
